Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Fairly rugged bedrock terrain north of Jackfish Bay, Basswood Lake, 12 miles north-northeast of Ely.

Elevation: 399 meters Verbatim Elevation: 1310feet

Habitat: Uncommon and local in the narrow ecotone between the steep north-facing slope of 80-foot ridge and an open peatland recovering from long-past beaver flooding (formerly a poor conifer swamp / spruce bog). Partial shade of Picea glauca, P. mariana, Pinus strobus, P. banksiana, and Betula papyrifera. Rocky, silty-organic soil. Thick moss mats (Sphagnum, Pleurozium). Mesic boreal setting. Consistently with one stroboli per stalk.

Associated Taxa: Associates include Dendrolycopodium hickeyi, Lycopodium clavatum, Coptis trifolia, Monotropa uniflora, Cornus canadensis, Gaultheria hispidula.
