Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Along the shores of Basswood Lake in rugged bedrock terrain 10 miles north-northeast of Ely, along the north shore of Jackfish Bay.

Verbatim Elevation: 1380feet
Habitat: Frequent in a large granitic outcrop complex atop an 80-foot bedrock ridge. Forming loose patches in shallow detrital-organic soil over bedrock, often amongst Cladina lichens. Mostly in full sun (to partial shade of scattered Pinus banksiana). Level to sloping settings.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Rhus glabra, Prunus susquehanae, Corydalis sempervirens, Polygonum douglasii, Woodsia ilvensis, Selaginella rupestris, Cardamine parviflora, Elymus trachycaulus, Danthonia spicata, Oryzopsis pungens, Dichanthelium linearifolium.
