United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Along the shores of Basswood Lake in rugged bedrock terrain 10 miles north-northeast of Ely, along the north shore of Jackfish Bay.

Habitat:
Frequent in a large granitic outcrop complex atop an 80-foot bedrock ridge. Forming loose patches in shallow detrital-organic soil over bedrock, often amongst Cladina lichens. Mostly in full sun (to partial shade of scattered Pinus banksiana). Level to sloping settings.

Additional associates include Rhus glabra, Prunus susquehanae, Corydalis sempervirens, Polygonum douglasii, Woodsia ilvensis, Selaginella rupestris, Cardamine parviflora, Elymus trachycaulus, Danthonia spicata, Oryzopsis pungens, Dichanthelium linearifolium.
