United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Along the shores of Basswood Lake in rugged bedrock terrain 10 miles north-northeast of Ely, along the north shore of Jackfish Bay.

Habitat:
Local on the margin of a large granitic outcrop complex on a narrow, 80-foot, bedrock ridge. Loose patch of ~100 plants in thin detrital soil over bedrock, adjacent to an old clearing near the remnants of an old cabin. On a broad ledge on a sloping, stair-step outcrop. Full sun. Southerly aspect. Additional small patches occur on the upper ledges of a 30- to 50-foot, southeast-facing cliff on a higher ridge nearby.
Associated Species:
Associates include Carex tonsa, Poa pratensis, Polygonum douglasii, Heuchera richardsonii, Corydalis sempervirens, Vaccinium angustifolium.
