Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Fairly rugged bedrock terrain north of Jackfish Bay, Basswood Lake, 14 miles north-northeast of Ely, southwest of Hube Lake.

Habitat: Occasional to locally abundant in a narrow strip of poor fen on the shores of a tiny (1/4-acre) bog pond. Very quaky wet peat. Forming small dense patches at the water's edge, and scattered loose patches back a short ways from the shore. Continuous Sphagnum carpets. Full sun.
Associated Species: Associates include Rhynchospora alba, Dulichium arundinaceum, Eriophorum virginicum, Drosera rotundifolia, D. intermedia, Scheuchzeria palustris, Vaccinium macrocarpon, Chamaedaphne calyculata.
