United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Rolling to moderately rugged bedrock terrain north of Jackfish Bay, Basswood Lake, 13 miles north-northeast of Ely.
Local in a shrubby, 10-acre beaver meadow. Occasional to locally common in the broad and drier ecotonal zone near the upland. Organic sandy-loam, amidst rocks, boulders, and the decaying boles of trees that grew here prior to flooding. The beaver dam that had impounded ~3 feet of water failed in ~late 1990's. Full sun.
Associates include Agrostis scabra, Carex lacustris, C. castanea, Campanula aparinoides, Cirsium arvense, Botrychium multifidum, Ophioglossum pusillum, Rubus strigosus.
