Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Along the banks of the Basswood River 1/2 mile downstream from Basswood Falls, 16 miles north-northeast of Ely.

Elevation: 393 meters Verbatim Elevation: 1290feet

Habitat: Few dozen clumps on low bedrock finger extending into a small riverine bay and rising 3-4 feet above the water. Shallow, moist, loamy, detrital soil over gently sloping granite, ~18-36 inches above the present water level, at the upper end of a zone that is typically inundated earlier in the season. Full sun to partial shade. Also sporadic on sand-gravel shores upstream to Basswood Falls.

Associated Taxa: Associates include Deschampsia cespitosa, Dichanthelium acuminatum, Viola lanceolata, Euthamia graminifolia, Hypericum ellipticum, Prunus susquehanae, Spiraea alba.
