Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Along the banks of the Basswood River in fairly rugged bedrock terrain 16 miles north-northeast of Ely, ~1/2-mile south-southeast of Wheelbarrow Falls.

Habitat: Quite local on a low bedrock point. A few hundred plants in ~15 square foot area, in a shallow layer of gravel and small cobbles over gently sloping granitic bedrock (migmatite). Dry shoreline setting, 1-2 feet above the water level is high for mid-August), on an outcrop that rises ~5 feet above the water at its highest point. Full sun most of the day.
Associated Species: Associates include Veronica peregrina, Potentilla norvegica, Agrostis scabra, Dichanthelium acuminatum, Deschampsia cespitosa, Selaginella rupestris.
