Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Along the banks of the Basswood River between Wheelbarrow Falls and Lower Basswood Falls, in fairly rugged bedrock terrain 16 miles north-northeast of Ely; in a bay just upstream from the mouth of the Horse River.

Elevation: 381 meters Verbatim Elevation: 1250feet

Habitat: Local on the shore of a small, (~1/2-acre) low island. Two loose patches (few dozen clumps) in shallow, moist, gravel and detritus over nearly level granitic bedrock, ~18-24 inches above the water (river is high for mid-August). Full sun to partial shade of Pinus banksiana, P. strobus, and Fraxinus pennsylvanica.

Associated Taxa: Associates include Agrostis scabra, Dichanthelium acuminatum, Deschampsia cespitosa, Spiraea alba, Euthamia graminifolia, Iris versicolor.
