Sporadic, occasional to very locally common. Numerous small patches (hundreds of plants total) encountered from the tip of United States Point westward to Basswood Falls and the Jackfish Bay narrows. Small, loose patches, ranging in size from a few clumps to several dozen. In shoreline settings, near the upper end of the wave zone. Typically on rocky points or small islands, in shallow sandy-gravel or detritus over granitic bedrock.
