Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Along the shores of Basswood Lake in strongly rolling bedrock terrain just shy of a mile south of Basswood Falls, 16 miles northeast of Ely.

Habitat: Uncommon and very local in a very small cove sheltered from most wave action behind a rocky point. Small groups of plants in coarse sand and gravel, amongst boulders. In water ~18-24 inches deep (lake level is down ~8-12 inches from the early season high mark, still somewhat high for mid-August). Growing amongst a large and dense patch of Eriocaulon aquaticum.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Juncus pelocarpus, Eleocharis palustris, Littorella uniflora.
