Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Rugged bedrock terrain on the large peninsula in Basswood Lake known as United States Point, 16 miles northeast of Ely, two miles southeast of Basswood Falls.

Elevation: 466 meters Verbatim Elevation: 1530feet

Habitat: Rare and local in a bedrock savanna atop an extremely steep northwest-facing slope of 230-foot ridge overlooking the lake. A few plants here at the highest point of the ridge (geodetic survey marker nearby). In shallow detrital-organic soil in a subtle depression in the granitic bedrock. Full sun to partial shade of Pinus strobus and P. banksiana.

Associated Taxa: Additional associates include Cladina spp. lichens, Sibbaldiopsis tridentata, Vaccinium angustifolium, Prunus susquehanae, Danthonia spicata, Dichanthelium linearifolium.
