United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Fairly rugged bedrock terrain 1.5 miles south-southwest of Basswood Falls, 15 miles northeast of Ely. At the head of a small drainage that empties into the narrows at the northeast end of Jackfish Bay, Basswood Lake.
Locally abundant on the margin of a 12-acre beaver meadow. A ~3-foot high dam failed and drained the shallow pond prior to 1991. Loose to dense patches, co-dominant with Fragaria virginiana in a zone of low-statured vegetation. Moist to rather dry organic loam. Sun to partial shade.
