Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Rolling to moderately rugged bedrock terrain 17 miles northeast of Ely. Very local along the Basswood River 1/2 mile downstream from Basswood Falls.

Habitat: On a low bedrock point (rising ~4 feet) that extends into a small bay. Shoreline setting, ~3 feet above the water, near the early season high water mark (in a zone that is impacted by flooding). Beneath dense low shrubs, predominantly Prunus susquehanae. Shallow silty organic soil over gently sloping granite.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Botrychium dissectum f. obliquum, B. multifidum, Thelypteris palustris, Euthamia graminifolia, Viola lanceolata, V. novae-angliae, Carex katahdinensis, Dichanthelium acuminatum.
