Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Rolling to fairly rugged bedrock terrain northwest of Basswood Lake, 16 miles northeast of Ely. Along a small drainage that empties into the Basswood River one mile west of Basswood Falls.

Habitat: Locally quite abundant in a shallow beaver pond. Forming quite dense mats in water 1-3 feet deep. Silty muck substrate. Plants variously submerged to somewhat floating on the water's surface. Full sun.
Associated Species: Associates include Potamogeton pusillus, Utricularia vulgaris, Sparganium fluctuans, Callitriche palustris, Brasenia schreberi.
