United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. On the north side of Fall Lake, in rolling bedrock terrain four miles northeast of Winton, seven miles northeast of Ely. Near the lake shore in the back of the large bay southwest of Newton Falls.

Habitat:
Local, loose patch in a vernal wetland (shoreline ash swamp), ~3-10 inches above lake level, in a zone that is inundated in the spring and during other high water periods. Shaded below canopy of Fraxinus nigra. Dozens of clumps. Moist organic soil.

Associates include Carex tuckermanii, C. crinita, Onoclea sensibilis, Equisetum arvense, Iris versicolor, Ranunculus pensylvanicus, Galium palustre, Spiraea alba.
