United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. On the northwest side of Fall Lake, in rolling bedrock terrain four miles northeast of Winton, seven miles northeast of Ely, on the mainland one mile southwest of Newton Falls.

Habitat:
Frequent in black ash swamp. Interrupted canopy dominated by mature Fraxinus nigra. Understory is also Fraxinus nigra, with patchy Abies balsamea and Alnus incana. Partial sun to full shade. Moist to quite wet organic substrate.
