Local on the shore of a group of low bedrock islets. Frequent here, small loose patches in shallow water. Rooted in a shallow lens of gravel over the rounded and gently-sloping granitic rock. Also in small, shallow, rock pools nearby that are perched slightly above the current lake level (which is down ~18 inches from the early season high mark). Full sun.
Associates include Eriocaulon aquaticum, Glyceria borealis, Eleocharis acicularis.
