Locality: United States, Minnesota, St. Louis, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Strongly rolling bedrock terrain north of Fourtown Lake, 15 miles north of Ely, just inland from the south shore of Bullet Lake.

Habitat: Local on the margin of a 14-acre wetland basin that is recovering from past beaver flooding. Semi-terrestrial ecotone, at the edge of the upland forest. Several plants, trailing along the ground; few strobili present. Full sun to partial shade of young Betula papyrifera, Picea glauca, and Abies balsamea. Rocky, silty soil with frequent boulders. In a zone dominated by Calamagrostis canadensis.

Associated Taxa: Additional associates include Dendrolycopodium hickeyi, Athyrium angustum, Triadenum fraseri, Fragaria virginiana, Lycopus uniflorus, Rubus strigosus.
