Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Strongly rolling bedrock terrain 12 miles north-northeast of Ely, in the southern half of Fourtown Lake.

Habitat: Local on the shore of a small island. Forming loose to dense patches in a shallow lens of silty gravel over nearly level granitic bedrock, ~4-6 inches above the water (the lake is down ~16 inches from the early season high mark). Full sun.
Associated Species: Associates include Carex lenticularis, Dulichium arundinaceum, Glyceria borealis, Juncus pelocarpus, J. filiformis, Lycopodiella inundata, Euthamia graminifolia, Triadenum fraseri, Ranunculus flammula, Eriocaulon aquaticum, Lycopus uniflorus, Lysimachia terrestris, Hypericum boreale, H. majus, Myrica gale.
