Locality:
United States, Minnesota, Lake, Hubachek Wilderness Research Center. Along the northern shore of Fall Lake, in strongly rolling bedrock terrain 3 miles northeast of Winton, 5.5 miles northeast of Ely. In Mukluk Bay, near the sauna building, and not far from the barge dock and boat house.

Habitat:
Local in moss mats over gravel along a driveway, in a portion of the bay that was filled in ~30 years ago. (This area had previously been similar to the rest of the shallow, mucky bay. The source of the gravelly fill was a nearby esker.) Full fun to partial shade of Pinus strobus and P. resinosa. The low-statured vegetation is regularly mowed, often cropped by Canada geese, and frequently driven upon.
