Locality: United States, Minnesota, Stearns, Padua Federal Waterfowl Production Area. Nearly level outwash plain three miles northwest of Padua, nine miles southwest of Sauk Centre.

Habitat: Very local in a small, shallow, prairie marsh. Forms a loose to rather dense patch which covers the entire ~ΒΌ-acre basin. No other associates are currently present. Organic, black, silt-loam, currently in water 8-12 inches deep (this early season surface water likely does not typically persist throughout the growing season). Full sun. Strongly rhizomatous.
Associated Species: Co-dominant with Persicaria amphibia.
