United States, Minnesota, Stearns, Prairie Storm Waterfowl Production Area. Nearly level outwash plain three miles west of Padua, 11 miles southwest of Sauk Centre.

Habitat:
Uncommon and local on the margins of a shallow prairie marsh in what was previously a heavily grazed pasture. Moist organic loam. Several small, loose patches encountered, each with dozens of flowering culms. Full sun to partially shaded by Cornus stolonifera.
Associated Species:
Additional associates include Carex stricta, Poa pratensis, Equisetum arvense, Pedicularis lanceolata, Solidago gigantea, Asclepias incarnata, Cirsium arvense.
