Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, University of Minnesota's Hubachek Wilderness Research Center. Fairly rugged bedrock terrain on the north side of Fall Lake, five miles northeast of Ely, along the two-track road leading to Browns Lake.

Habitat: Occasional in a small ash swamp along a small stream. Interrupted canopy of Fraxinus nigra. Patchy shrub layer of Corylus cornuta, Acer spicatum, Prunus virginiana, Ulmus americana. Moist, rocky, shallow organic soil with small boulders.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Carex peckii, Luzula acuminata, Aralia racemosa, A. nudicaulis, Actaea rubra, Matteuccia struthiopteris, Athyrium angustum, Uvularia grandiflora, Trillium cernuum, Maianthemum canadense, Arisaema triphyllum.
