United States, Minnesota, Lake, Moderately rugged bedrock terrain between Snowbank and Moose Lakes, 17 miles east-northeast of Ely. Very locally abundant at the northwest corner of Secret Lake, along the Secret-Blackstone Hiking Trail.

Habitat:
Atop a dry, south-facing, 20-foot high shoreline cliff, on the mid-slope of a 50-foot bedrock ridge. Full sun to partial shade of Pinus resinosa in the surrounding dry pine woodland. On upper ledges and in shallow, rocky, silty-clay atop the meta-sedimentary cliff (Knife Lake Group bedrock). White flowers.

Associates include Selaginella rupestris, Antennaria howellii, Campanula rotundifolia, Woodsia ilvensis, Arctostaphylos uva-ursi, Rhus glabra, Rosa acicularis, Carex abdita, Piptatherum pungens.
