Locality: United States, Minnesota, Fillmore, Rugged forested terrain along the South Fork Root River, 1/2 mile southwest of Choice, nine miles southeast of Lanesboro, ~1/3-mile downstream from the mouth of Shattuck Creek.

Habitat: Local on a narrow, gently-sloping ridge spur atop an extremely steep, south-facing bluff. Oak savanna. Patchy canopy of Juniperus virginiana, Quercus macrocarpa, Q. rubra, and Populus grandidentata. Silty soil. Loose patch. Stems trailing along ground. Several dozen inflorescences; purple flowers.
Associated Species: Associates include Carex pensylvanica, Anemone quinquefolia, Amphicarpaea bracteata, Erigeron pulchellus, Potentilla simplex, Antennaria howellii, Liparis liliifolia, Galium boreale, Solidago ulmifolia, Krigia biflora.
