Locality: United States, Minnesota, Fillmore, Rugged forested terrain along the lower reaches of Shattuck Creek, one mile west of Choice, nine miles southeast of Lanesboro.

Habitat: Large loose patch of several hundred plants on the gently sloping lower portion of a 200-foot north- to northwest-facing bluff. Mesic hardwood forest. Canopy dominated by Acer saccharum, Ulmus americana, and Tilia americana, patchy due to past selective logging. Dense tall understory dominated by Carpinus caroliniana, with frequent Corylus cornuta, Ostrya virginiana, Quercus rubra, and Zanthoxylum americanum. Silty soil with numerous earthworms. White flowers.
Associated Species: Associates include Carex pedunculata, C. woodii, Adiantum pedatum, Athyrium angustum, Desmodium glutinosum.
