Locality: United States, Wisconsin, Douglas, Gently rolling outwash plain west of U.S. Highway 53, two miles south of Solon Springs. Along the Wild Rivers State Trail (Soo Line Railroad grade) west of the Solon Springs airport, south of Leo Creek.

Habitat: Uncommon and local in a narrow strip of jack pine-pin oak barrens. Full sun to partially shaded by Pinus banksiana and Quercus ellipsoidalis, and by young Populus tremuloides which is encroaching on the small prairie opening here. Sandy soil, thick thatch. White flowers with a subtly sweet fragrance in mid-afternoon.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Lithospermum canescens, Viola adunca, Prunus susquehanae, Comptonia peregrina, Carex pensylvanica, Andropogon gerardii, Oryzopsis pungens, Danthonia spicata.
