Habitat:
Occasional in seepage swamp and wet hardwood forest. Interrupted canopy of Fraxinus nigra, with frequent Betula alleghaniensis. Understory of Fraxinus nigra, Abies balsamea, Acer rubrum, A. spicatum, Alnus incana, Ilex verticillata, and Corylus cornuta. Moist organic clay, and in groundwater seeps.
