Habitat:
Uncommon and local in alluvial wet meadow / shrub swamp. Organic clay substrate. Shallow surface water. In full sun. Leaves have a bluish hue. One rather small but fairly dense patch was encountered.

Associates include Typha xglauca, T. angustifolia, Salix planifolia, Sium suave, Equisetum fluviatile, Calla palustris, Schoenoplectus tabernaemontani.
