United States, Minnesota, Fillmore, Along the middle reaches of Diamond Creek in rugged terrain five miles east of Lanesboro, not far upstream from the confluence of the north and south forks of the creek.

Habitat:
Local on the narrow bottomland, near the base of a steep, 220-foot, northwest-facing bluff. Occasional to common in a ~one-acre groundwater seepage meadow. Robust clumps (larger ones with dozens of culms). Moist to wet organic silt. Mostly in full sun.

Associates include Carex laevivaginata, C. vulpinoidea, C. retrorsa, C. hystericina, C. cristatella, Eleocharis erythropoda, Scirpus atrovirens, Glyceria striata, G. grandis, Caltha palustris, Equisetum arvense, Packera aurea, Aster prenanthoides, Galium asprellum, Impatiens capensis.
