Habitat:
Local on the narrow bottomland, near the base of a steep, 220-foot, northwest-facing bluff. Occasional, scattered robust clumps in a ~one-acre groundwater seepage meadow. Moist to wet organic silt. Mostly in full sun.

Associates include Carex stipata, C. laevivaginata, C. vulpinoidea, C. hystericina, C. cristatella, C. granularis, Eleocharis erythropoda, Scirpus atrovirens, Glyceria striata, G. grandis, Aster prenanthoides, Caltha palustris, Equisetum arvense, Cardamine bulbosa, Packera aurea, Galium asprellum, Impatiens capensis.
