Locality: United States, Minnesota, Fillmore, Along the upper reaches of Diamond Creek (north fork) in rugged forested terrain four miles east-southeast of Whalan, 6.5 miles east of Lanesboro.

Habitat: Local on the gradual to moderately steep mid- to upper portion of a 100-foot, southwest-facing bluff. Infrequent in past-grazed oak woodland (overgrown savanna). Partial sun to full shade beneath a patchy canopy of open-grown Quercus macrocarpa. Patchy to quite dense understory of Zanthoxylum americanum, Juniperus virginiana, and Corylus americana. Rocky silt, rather shallow to dolomite bedrock.
Associated Species: Associates include Sanicula gregaria, Taenidia integerrima, Aquilegia canadensis, Galium boreale, G. concinnum, Triosetum perfoliatum, Toxicodendron rydbergii.
