Habitat:
Frequent locally atop a narrow ridge between steep, 100-foot slopes. Gently sloping bluff top setting near the top of south-facing cliffs. Past-grazed and overgrown oak savanna (where Juniperus virginiana has recently been removed). Patchy canopy of open-grown Quercus macrocarpa. Patchy, short understory of Ostrya virginiana, Rhamnus cathartica, and Lonicera xbella. Partial shade. Rocky silt.
