Habitat:
Quite local in a wet meadow, bordering a large patch of oak woodland. Several hundred (~300-500) plants in small loose patches; apparently restricted to a small (~½-acre) zone of wet prairie that is more diverse and also at a subtly higher elevation than the surrounding meadow. Moist sandy soil with a shallow organic cap. Full sun.
Associated Species:
In a setting dominated by Carex haydenii and Calamagrostis canadensis; also associated with Platanthera flava, Eupatorium perfoliatum, Stellaria longifolia, Saxifraga pensylvanica, Solidago gigantea, S. canadensis, Gentiana andrewsii, Carex conoidea, C. tenera.
