Infrequent in a small (~½-acre) zone of wet prairie that is more diverse and also at a subtly higher elevation than the surrounding meadow. In an area that is dominated by Carex haydenii and Calamagrostis canadensis. Moist sandy soil with a shallow organic cap. Full sun.
Additional associates include Carex tenera, C. pellita, Stellaria longifolia, Eupatorium perfoliatum, Lathyrus palustris, Gentiana andrewsii, Saxifraga pensylvanica, Solidago canadensis, S. gigantea, Platanthera flava, Ophioglossum pusillum, Rubus strigosus.
