Habitat:
Occasional to locally common on a large sloping sand terrace that here extends 260 feet up the base of 480-foot, northerly-facing bluffs. Native population of several hundred individuals, varying from seedlings to large trees; specimen is from the upper branches of a large tree (~50 feet tall and 17-inch diameter at breast height). Fairly extensive pine-oak barrens savanna / woodland complex recovering from past grazing. Deep sand.
