Habitat:
Occasional to frequent on a large sand terrace that extends 260 feet up the base of 480-foot, north- to west-facing bluffs. Degraded barrens prairie / oak savanna recovering from past grazing. Full sun to partial shade of Juniperus virginiana, Quercus velutina, and occasional Pinus banksiana. Loose clumps in deep silty-sand. Level to gently-sloping settings.
