Locality: United States, Minnesota, St. Louis, Rolling to fairly rugged terrain south of Highway 169, eight miles southwest of Ely, along the Purvis Lake Forest Road just east of the canoe access trail leading to the north shore of Purvis Lake.

Habitat: Locally abundant on the margin of a shallow, two-acre wetland. Forming the dominant cover in a broad zone on the western end of the basin, adjacent to a sedge fen dominated by Carex lasiocarpa. Dense and quite robust clumps. Wet mucky substrate, and in shallow water (to ~12 inches deep). Full sun to partial shade of Fraxinus nigra.
Associated Species: Associates include Carex utriculata, Dulichium arundinaceum, Potamogeton gramineus, Veronica scutellata, Sium suave, Persicaria amphibia, Potentilla palustris.
