Habitat:
Local in a small patch of alder swamp, in a narrow wetland drainage between upland ridges. Occasional here in the dappled shade of tall and fairly dense Alnus incana, with occasional Fraxinus nigra and Picea mariana. Growing on tall hummocks in wet, spongy peat; quite often in Sphagnum moss carpets.
