United States, Minnesota, St. Louis, Strongly rolling bedrock terrain east of Eagles Nest Lake #3, west of Purvis Lake, south of Meadow Lake, nine miles southwest of Ely, along the Purvis Lake Forest Road, just east of the Beaver River.

Habitat:
Uncommon and local in a small patch (~2 acres) of lowland cedar. Patchy canopy of Thuja occidentalis. Patchy understory of Alnus incana, with occasional Fraxinus nigra. Several fairly dense patches here, including a group of 75-100 upright shoots. In Sphagnum moss carpets on low hummocks.
Associated Species:
Associates include Spinulum annotinum, Dryopteris carthusiana, D. cristata, Gymnocarpium dryopteris, Rubus pubescens, Athyrium angustum, Cornus canadensis, Carex leptalea, C. intumescens, C. disperma.
