Habitat:
Local in a fairly large (~10-acre) bedrock outcrop complex rising 15-30 above thousands of acres of peat bog. Infrequent in shallow detrital-organic soil over level to gently sloping, metasedimentary bedrock (biotite schist). Full sun.

Associates include Danthonia spicata, Dichanthelium acuminatum, Agrostis scabra, Corydalis sempervirens, Hieracium umbellatum, Viola adunca, Lactuca canadensis, Senecio paupercula, Fallopia cilinodis, Botrychium multifidum, Woodsia ilvensis, Amelanchier spp., Vaccinium angustifolium, Diervilla lonicera.
