Locality: United States, Minnesota, Koochiching, Extensive peatland between the Big Fork and Little Fork Rivers, 7 miles northwest of the town of Littlefork, 15 miles southwest of International Falls.

Habitat: Local on a fairly large (~10-acre) bedrock outcrop complex island rising 15-30 feet above thousands of acres of peat bog. Occasional to locally abundant on and near gently sloping exposures of metasedimentary bedrock (biotite schist). Full sun to partial shade (Abies balsamea, Populus tremuloides, Picea mariana). Sprawling patches in shallow soil, often with mosses and lichens (Cladina spp.).
Associated Species: Associates include Diervilla lonicera, Rosa acicularis, Prunus pensylvanica, Senecio paupercula, Viola adunca, Halenia deflexa, Danthonia spicata, Schizachne purpurascens.
