Habitat:
Local on a fairly large (~10-acre) bedrock outcrop complex rising above thousands of acres of peat bog. Occasional in shallow detrital-organic soil over metasedimentary bedrock (biotite schist). Full sun to partial shade of Betula papyrifera, Abies balsamea, and Populus tremuloides). Frequently in moss and lichen (Cladina spp.) mats. Level to sloping settings.
