Locality: United States, Minnesota, Koochiching, Extensive peatland complex 13 miles west-southwest of Big Falls, 20 miles east of Waskish.

Habitat: Very local in a rich cedar swamp dominated by Thuja occidentalis, with scattered Larix laricina. Patchy understory of Alnus incana. Loose patches, with hundreds of stems total, in a series of connected pools with a subtle but discernible flow. Deep, buoyant peat. In water ~4-12 inches deep. Depending on water depth, the upper ~4-12 inches of the stems are emergent and erect.
Associated Species: Associates include Potentilla palustris, Cicuta bulbifera, Calla palustris, Utricularia intermedia, Thelypteris palustris, Iris versicolor, Caltha palustris, Rhamnus alnifolia.
