Habitat:
Very local in a rich cedar swamp dominated by Thuja occidentalis, with scattered Larix laricina. Patchy understory of Alnus incana. Loose patches, with hundreds of stems total, in a series of connected pools with a subtle but discernible flow. Deep, buoyant peat. In water ~4-12 inches deep. Depending on water depth, the upper ~4-12 inches of the stems are emergent and erect.
