Habitat:
Quite local in a narrow zone of beaver-flooded ash swamp, on the margin of an upland rise east of the river. Small, loose to dense patches in the shallow water (<2 feet deep) of a beaver-dug channel extending into the swamp from a nearby beaver pond. Patchy canopy of young Fraxinus nigra. Tall shrub layer of Alnus incana. Yellow flowers, emergent and held erect. Most of the leaves are floating on the water's surface.
