Habitat:
Local in a broad ecotonal zone of ash and cedar swamp bordering an upland rise. Partial shade beneath patchy canopy dominated by Fraxinus nigra, and scattered Thuja occidentalis and Betula papyrifera. Patchy understory includes Alnus incana and Abies balsamea. Moist, firm, organic substrate. Loose patch of small clumps here.
