Locality: United States, Minnesota, St. Louis, Strongly rolling forested terrain west of Ash Lake, eight miles north-northeast of the town of Nett Lake, 14 miles northwest of Orr.

Habitat: Locally abundant in a large beaver meadow recovering from past flooding. Forming dense patches in slightly higher elevation zones, mostly in settings fairly far away from the large dam that was partially breached in recent years, resulting in a ~2- to 3-foot drop in the level of the pond. Full sun. Moist organic substrate. Hard frost in the past week has turned most plants brown.
Associated Species: Associates include Scirpus cyperinus, Eleocharis palustris, Carex lasiocarpa, C. lacustris, Glyceria borealis, Potentilla palustris, Bidens cernua, Lysimachia terrestris, Acorus calamus.
