On the very gently-sloping lower portion of a 60-foot, southwest-facing slope. Locally abundant in mesic aspen-birch forest dominated by Populus tremuloides, with occasional Betula papyrifera and Picea glauca. Tall understory includes Abies balsamea, Populus tremuloides, and Betula papyrifera. Tall shrub layer includes Corylus cornuta, Abies balsamea and Picea glauca. Sandy loam with a dark loamy cap. Large, loose patch with hundreds of shoots here.
