Habitat:
Infrequent on the gentle westerly slope of a broad, 70-foot high, bedrock ridge. Upland cedar forest dominated by Thuja occidentalis, and scattered Betula papyrifera, Populus tremuloides, Picea glauca, and occasional old-growth Pinus strobus. Patchy Abies balsamea in the understory. Mostly shaded, mesic setting. Sandy-loam with a dark organic cap. Thick duff. Forming loose patches.
