Locality: United States, Minnesota, St. Louis, Strongly rolling forested terrain west of Ash Lake, eight miles north-northeast of the town of Nett Lake, 14 miles northwest of Orr.

Verbatim Elevation: 1,380feet
Habitat: Local on the margin of a small, low bedrock outcrop on a gentle west-facing slope. Loose patch in carpets of mosses (Pleurozium schreberi) and lichens (Cladina spp.), and in shallow soil over the fairly featureless migmatite that does not rise above the adjacent soil here. Full sun to partial shade of young Betula papyrifera, Abies balsamea, Pinus resinosa, and larger Pinus strobus, in an even-aged forest regenerating from logging.
Associated Species: Additional ssociates include Oryzopsis asperifolia, Danthonia spicata, Aster macrophyllus, Pteridium aquilinum, Vaccinium angustifolium.
